When working on ideas and concepts I mostly start with pen and paper. For me it´s still the fastest way to keep up with my train of thought. Bouncing ideas through sketching, lots of changes, variations… JUST STARTING! Not being held up by having to start a computer, a drawing program, a text window, a 3D-section, etc. – I also like that paper keeps every old version alive, and that paper and cardboard are great for fast modeling! Of course, I use the computer too, when making prototypes and products, but mostly the computer comes in later, when the concept is more defined, for working through the details. I developed my TRANSFORMA lamp with just some paper sketches, a little geometry, and some cardboard mock up. Then I created the final lamp in the workshop with some jigs; when the manufacturer asked for the drawings I even had to make some!
